Video of the Week: Week 2

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

No Sarah Palin rally this week, so I have remembered to find a video for this week, hooray! This week's video is a classic... At least to me. Phox gave this to me a very long time ago and it was one of the reasons I actually created a YouTube account. (So I could rate it and favorite it so I could find it easily in the future.) Since nobody has bothered to show me videos since the first week, you're all stuck with my own picks! (Which, to be honest, is really quite surprising... People usually inundate me with crazy videos that I'm always being forced to watch, but as soon as I actually encourage it, they stop. Story of my life!)

I now present to you: How NOT to enjoy a banana... Set to the title music of Super Smash Brothers Brawl!

Video of the Week: Week 1

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Behold, at 6 minutes until Thursday, I give you the belated, though highly anticipated inaugural Video of the Week! Credit must go to TW for showing this to me late one night and I literally laughed my head off. (Yeah, literally! I had to fumble around in the dark for my head after it rolled under the bed.)

It's from a group of folks who call themselves Mega64... They basically go out into public locations and see what would happen if real world folks encountered characters or events from video games of all sorts. This one: Just how viable is Goomba's big green shoe (otherwise known as Kuribo's Shoe) from Super Mario 3 in the real world?

Not very...

EDIT: Yeah, wouldn't you know it, the plugin I use to embed YouTube videos decided to take this one day to work not a single bit and FeedBurner decided to take this one day to instantly send this out to all your RSS readers. It took me a grand total of 5 seconds to fix the video, but the damage was already done. Ah well, better luck next week?

Video of the Week: Introduction and Rules

I think I've decided to forgo creating a different site for my political commentary. I read a few blogs that I initially subscribed to because they were political, but they were also personal blogs where the authors posted random everyday stuff about themselves. To me, that just made it seem... Different, somehow. I like seeing major rants about something new that's unfolded in our government, and then going to the next post and seeing them do a piece on the biggest onion in their garden. Just makes it all seem more personal to me... So, for now, I've settled on keeping this single site and loading it up with all kinds of goodies! If you don't like something, skip over it. I do that all the time on other sites! The fact is, everything here is what I wrote in my spare time and it's not a job or anything. Primarily political, sure... That's because it's my hobby, which also includes gaming and building PCs, which I also rant about at length. I may, in the future, decide to split it into another site, but this site gets a nice bundle of traffic for whatever reason, and I don't think I want to mess with that right now!

So! Without further ado: The reason behind the title of this post! I've decided to try something new here. Every Wednesday, I will try to post a random video. I figured maybe it would give me something to do besides write about the latest lies put out by American's inept news media services, or the latest Democrat scandal that's being covered up and/or being blamed on the Republicans, or the latest opinion I have on what seems to be the most controversial topics I can find. (Oops, there I go again!)

What I would like to happen eventually is to have people send me links to videos they think are funny. That's pretty much the only requirement. Make them humorous! I don't want some heavy expose on something or a long, boring documentary on the intricacies of the stages of life of the common earthworm. Unless, you know, it happens to be so boring, it's funny. It has to be funny and it MUST BE CLEAN. No foul language, no creepy innuendos, you know what I mean by "keep it clean". I forever strive to keep this site family-friendly and I don't intend to stop any time soon. Everyone has my contact information, or, if you don't, you can find them by clicking the button at the top of this page (or by clicking here if you're lazy). I would also appreciate it if the videos you send to me can be embedded here. This thing is as much for me as anyone else, and I don't want to have to leave my site to see a video when I'm just randomly browsing... Yeah, that sounds lazy, too, but this is the Internet. It's a fact that if you cater to lazy, things are more apt to be seen. But that also means that this post is already waaaaaay too long for the lazy people out there and they've moved on to something else. This is the introductory post... I don't plan on going on about stuff like this on the actual VotW posts.

So! To cut to the chase:

Rivenwolf.net's Video of the Week will air here every Wednesday, hopefully without fail, in an attempt to liven things up around here. The videos will be clean and humorous, but I make no promises that they won't be political in nature. The videos will, in fact, be approved by myself and if I don't find something funny, then I'm not going to post it, but I encourage people to contact me to show me videos in hopes that they'll get credit for the post! You won't get any prizes, so I'm gonna burst that bubble right now, but you WILL be immortalized on this blog for years to come and when I become President of the United States a respected political commentator a professional writer an all-star bum who gets posted on Digg and Slashdot every day, you'll go down in history along with me! Or... That's the plan? Yeah... Plan.
