Amazingly Dumb Voters

Note: I didn't feel like re-reading this post for typos or grammar mistakes, so I apologize in advance for any you may find... There's a lot of passionate stuff here that I really didn't feel like going through more than once. It's long and I doubt anyone will read it, but oh well! It had to be said.

So this is floating around... Howard Stern aired some clips of questions being asked of random people on the streets. They go up and ask if they're for Obama or McCain and if they said Obama, then they pulled a fast one to see if people knew what they were talking about. What they did was ask if they supported Obama's claims to do various things, only those claims were things McCain wants to do. The best part is when they're asked if they support Obama's pick of Sarah Palin and they're all like "oh, definitely!" To me, though, I could tell they were clueless when it came to the policies... You can just tell by their voices that they had no idea what they were just asked, but they knew they liked Obama for whatever reason, so they covered themselves as best they could... But it was a trap and made them look like utter fools. Here's a YouTube audio clip, if you want to hear. Sad thing is, this really doesn't surprise me.

Absolutely amazing. Like I said... Doesn't surprise me in the least bit. These are people who just can't be troubled to look into anything, and if they do, they don't use any form of judgment for themselves, they just repeat the Democrat party spew and determine things with their emotions. For instance, I skimmed over a blog post that started off saying they voted for Obama because "he looked more presidential" than McCain. Oh yeah, that's a prime qualification right there. He LOOKS presidential! Right-o! The post just went downhill from there and dredged up all the party's tripe about how McCain is lying about Obama's affiliation with Ayers and how he's not really a Socialist.

I mean, if you did ANY research into this on your own, you'd find out that someone's lying, and it's not McCain. I already covered some information that pegs Obama as being a member of the New Party, the Socialist party of America. Remember that post? But no, they take the bait, hook, line and sinker, and run with the lies that the Obama campaign is billowing to poorly cover his butt. It doesn't help that the mainstream media is so far in the tank for Obama that they can no longer see the light of day. That might also be why they're ignoring the fact that the Communist Party of the United States is endorsing Obama as their candidate. What the heck? (Note: I figured I would link to the blog I found it on, but if you want to go directly to the party's article, here's the link to that, but I suspect it may be removed from their site in the future.) Want me to say that again?

THE AMERICAN COMMUNIST PARTY ENDORSES BARACK OBAMA.

The very words "American" and "Communist" are antonyms! American Communist is the very definition of an oxymoron! You cannot be American and support Communism... Does nobody know what Socialism and Communism is anymore? Where are the days where we were smart enough to know threats to the very heart of our existence and not be afraid to fight it? If anyone, for any reason, tries to explain this away as a non-issue is, to be perfectly blunt, a naive idiot of epic proportions. The more I read about the un-American background of that candidate, the more I'm inclined to think that voters for that candidate are equally un-American. How can you be so diluted as to think none of this matters? How can you be so stupid to think that we can somehow pull off Socialist or Communist ideals that have repeatedly failed over the course of human history? We're Americans because we never bought into all that... We're the greatest country on the planet because we never bought into all that. And now people are ready to embrace the very definition of un-American because... Why? I honestly don't know.

You ask them why and they'll stumble and stutter around or flat out deflect the issue and twist it around into something negative about McCain. "Well, I'm voting for Obama because he won't give tax cuts to companies going overseas!" Yeah, get an economics book before you try to use that argument, okay? Companies are going overseas because taxes are cheaper over there... Raise taxes here on companies leaving and they'll just leave faster. That's absolutely brilliant! Lower taxes on companies and they'll all move back to where they'll have to pay less. It's not rocket science! Why can't people understand the basic principles of capitalist economics?

I could go on and on and on, but it wouldn't do any good. The Democrats are going to cover their ears, hum loudly, and go vote early. After all, what they ignore can't actually be true, right? What they don't know can't hurt them, right? And if someone comes through with hard evidence that Obama is DEAD WRONG on an issue, they'll just pretend like it doesn't matter. What bugs me to no end is how anyone can act like this. I know some pretty intelligent people (well, they used to be, at any rate) who, at one time, would have been smart enough and objective enough to realize Obama is a HORRIBLE choice. I guess somewhere along their life, they decided to forsake everything that makes this country great. But that's what the Democrat party enjoys doing... They love to tear people down and destroy the pride in our country and bombard people with negative stories and examples of how evil this country has become. It's a complete and total lie, but a lie repeated long enough and loud enough and often enough will eventually be believed.

I guess there's one good thing for conservatives that could come out of an Obama election. After we enter the Second Great Depression and our military is pulled back in defeat and our taxes and unemployment are skyrocketing and deadbeat welfare leeches are lined up waiting for their next free check paid for by the Joe the Plumbers of the country... When we are no longer the strongest and greatest country on the planet, and illegal immigrants are overrunning our nationalized healthcare systems and international trade has ground to a halt after Obama dismantles NAFTA and we have all our weapons confiscated and religious organizations are treated as poorly as any other small business... When America has been flushed down the toilet because nobody wanted to be called a racist, all of us conservatives can point at you liberal Democrats and say "We told you so! We were right all along and you didn't listen!" It'll be too late to do anything more than that.

I apologize for the morbid post, but I had to spill it somewhere... I'm getting sick of all the factless, air-head reasons on why people are voting for Obama. I know I can scream until I'm blue in the face and am so hoarse I won't be able to speak for weeks and nobody will listen because that's the way liberals are, but it still makes me sick that someone in the United States could think someone like Obama is a good direction for our country. Literally, it makes me sick to my stomach that someone could throw everything away for empty promises by someone who's skin happens to be black. ("OMG, I can't vote against him or I'll be a racist!") But because I'm the kind of guy who will shout from his soapbox until the second coming of Christ because he knows he's right, I'll keep shouting about how horrible Obama is for a president and how insane everyone is for voting for him. I don't care if that makes me "arrogant" or "rude" or "racist" or what have you... It's the truth, and the truth hurts, so they say.

But I agree with what Sarah Palin said to Dr. Dobson (of Focus on the Family) in response to a question about how the polls affect the morale of the campaign:

"To me, it motivates us, makes us work that much harder," Palin said. "And it also strengthens my faith, because I'm going to know, at the end of the day, putting this in God's hands, that the right thing for America will be done at the end of the day on Nov. 4. So I'm not discouraged at all."

I'm sure people all over will extrapolate this to mean that Palin thinks she's the "right thing" for America because she put it in God's hands. Nothing farther from the truth... I mean, sure, all of us Christians (at least the ones with their heads screwed on straight) think she is, by far, one of the best leaders to come along, but what she means by that is that no matter what happens... If she's elected or if Obama is elected or if a third party rises up... No matter what happens, it's all in God's hands and that nothing will happen that He hasn't planned to happen. This is why I, for one, will not be out in the streets with any rioters if Obama happens to win the election. I realize that even though he's the worst candidate we've had in the history of this country, he was elected for a reason and, according to the Bible, in Romans 8:28: "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

But don't you think for an instant that it gives you a free pass not to vote or to vote for Obama. Whatever happens will happen for a purpose and for an ultimate good for those that love God and are following his will, but we cannot sit idle and wait for it to happen... We need to get out there and do what we know is right! But if Palin should lose, and the Republican party takes the opportunity to reject conservatism, and all manner of horrible things happens as a result of an Obama presidency, I will take heart knowing that it's happening for a reason and is all according to a divine plan.

I have a question. I know that you have a large anti-Obama bias, and I acknowledge my own anti-McCain bias. But you make it sound like it's anyone, not just the people like those on the video, that votes for Obama who just sees his charisma or whatever. I know you're against most of his policies, but do you really think lowly of ALL of his supporters?

I'll be honest: I'm an Obama voter, and you know it. Do I 100% like everything he does? No, I don't. Aborting babies after they've been born bothers me, and I'm pro-choice. I'm mixed on the NAFTA issue, but that's because I don't know very much about it.

On the other hand, universal health care _for those who can't get it from their employers_ is important to me. I don't believe that McCain's plan is going to help someone like me, who doesn't have a company employer, get health care. I'm a college student, don't work for a big company, and work part-time anyway so wouldn't be eligible for a company plan. The problem is right now most insurance companies only give it to you through work- you can't just go apply to insurance for insurance. That's why I have a $900 bill for a proceedure that I needed- because I had to have it, but no one covered me. As far as I understand it from what's been released, Obama will allow you to keep current coverage- he'd just be instituting a nationalized system that is rather like Medicaid and Medicare for those people who do NOT currently have insurance if they can't get it elsewhere. It also mandates that those who could get it (self pay or get it through their employer but PICK not to) acquire it from SOMEWHERE. Are you against people who currently are uninsured (through no fault of their own, like students, or people under 24, or those who maybe only work 35 hours a week and not 40, or random fast food workers) having any kind of insurance? The fact that so many people don't is why people go to the ER for every little thing and clog itup- a lot of them have no other option. I think Obama's plan is really expanding Medicare/Medicaid from just the elderly to everyone not insured. Do you disagree? If so, do you disagree with the Medicaid system? People over 65 can't work anymore so they can't get employer insurance? How do you, personally, feel they should get insurance?

Now, I'll admit I know very little about McCain's plan. The most relevant quote I can find is on McCain's website, and it states that: "The McCain health plan builds on the employer-based system. Employers will have the same incentive to provide health insurance as they do today since they will continue to deduct the cost of health insurance they provide to employees. " The problem I have with this is the same reason I mentioned above- _what happens to those who currently lack an employer who provides health care_? McCain's plan does NOT mention how these people will get insurance.

I've gone in depth into health care because it matters to me (aforementioned $900 bill that would have been more like $50 with insurance *cough*). But my point is, I am one of those voters who DO look at candidate positions on things. Do I blindly agree with everything Obama says, no. Do I disagree with everything McCain says? No. I'm voting Obama because, while he doesn't 100% fit what I want, he fits better than McCain, and that's that.

(Side question- is anyone ever really 100% happy with a candidate when they really study the issues?)

Let me start off by saying I'm probably in the very same boat as far as health insurance goes... My dad is self-employeed and clearly doesn't get company health insurace, and we don't exactly make enough money to justify paying out the wazoo for all of that. I'm not going to say that Obama's plan isn't tempting for people like us... But health care is NOT a "right", like Obama says it is. It's a privilege IF you can pay for it properly. I'm NOT going to get into MediCare or MediCaid because that's already been developed (poorly) and that's not on the table. That's changing the subject and I'm not going to go off on a tangent.

Obama's health care seems great until you start reading the particulars... Things like government mandated child health care. If your children aren't insured, you better get your head in the game and get one, even if you can't afford it, because you're going to get fined if you don't, so you're going to pay no matter what. That's stripping freedom of choice to do what you want with your money. Like I said, I'm in your boat with no health care and my parents had to pay for hospital time I had... I know that they and I would much rather have no insurance (which is by choice as much as it is by income) than have free, MANDATED health care. Plus, if you're a small business (which my dad is), then you're also going to be FORCED to offer health care to your employees. Sounds great for the employees, right? Sure it does! But whether you want to believe it or not, employees aren't the only people in the workforce here... The businesses HAVE to turn a profit or they're going to close. If, suddenly, these small businesses are forced to offer health care, their expenses are going to skyrocket and they're going to have to either raise prices on their goods or FIRE people. Either way, in the state of this economy, that's a horrible, horrible idea. Restrict businesses that are already hurting?

From what I've heard, McCain's plan seems to be is that he wants to refund everyone some tax money and reduce insurance fees and allow anyone to get plans and use hospitals anywhere in the country (aka: across state lines) to find the best deal and promote competition. Whether it's enough or not I don't really think about because I would much rather keep the optional capitalist system than go to a mandatory socialist system. Obama keeps crushing into our heads that we can keep our current health care plans and not move under a government system, but it still remains that Obama's health care is mandatory in some way and I don't approve of that. It's NOT a Constitutional right and should not be treated as such. History constantly teaches us that government stepping in to control things is the ultimate in bad ideas, but Obama and all his supporters think that they can do it the "right way" this time. No! It doesn't work like that! Government is inherently ill-equipped to do anything but what is spelled out in the Constitution. That could open a whole new can of worms, but that's the truth, and what we need right now isn't a government getting involved in the economy, we need it to leave... We're going to wind up having a second Herbert Hoover who jumps in and artificially inflates and supports our economy before it utterly collapses into a depression. It's not the time for the government to be messing with the economy... Actually, not now, not ever. Health care included. Encourage insurance and hospital competition to lower prices the capitalist way and everything would be so much better. Yes, I agree that health care is expensive, but there are other ways to go about it that are within the ideals of what makes America great: free market capitalism. A natural extention of free election government.

Now, as far as thinking poorly of all Obama supporters... I have a bunch of friends who support this guy and it really upsets me that these folks can support this guy because he promises to make their lives easier, but they ignore everything like his clear support for infanticide (which he lies about) and his clear affiliation with ACORN (which he lies about), Ayers (which he lies about), Reverend Wright (which he lies about), muslim roots (which he lies about), the list goes on and on and on and he's all lied about it all and the media isn't going to call him on it. You're willing to vote in a President who has no qualms about killing babies that have already been born, and a Vice President who said that he believes life begins at conception but that he's still okay with letting people get abortions. You're okay with voting in a President who still won't accept that the Iraq Surge strategy worked and still wants to rip out our military in dishonorable DEFEAT and send the message to all our enemies that we're not strong enough to finish the fights. That's a stupid strategy! Doesn't anyone play real-time strategy games? You push, push, push and take and control plots of land and you never give that land up or the baddies will move back in and act like nothing every happened and you just wasted lots of time, money and lives. Obama's list of bad ideas is longer than I care to dedicate this comment to.

I'm going to be honest here... I can't look at people that vote for Obama because he's going to make their lives easier in spite of all this horrible socialist ideas he has and see them the same way. I see someone who's willing to sacrifice so much for convenience. I'm in the very same boat, folks! I'm the target low-income bracket that Obama claims to want to help, and I want nothing part of it! We make less than 20,000 a year... We're the prime candidate for Obama's so-called aid, but I'm not willing to sacrifice the entire American Dream and the principles of this country just so I can pay for something cheaper. To accept his obvious support for killing babies under any circumstances just so you can make more money is DISGUSTING and I'm going to have no part of it... And then I see my friends who support him anyway and I can't help but look at them differently. How much else are you willing to throw under the bus to make your life easier? Christianity and religion is constantly under attack and liberals are always ready to crush churches. If a politician promises you a larger government check and better health care, but they support the abolishment of non-profit, tax-free status of churches and treat them like businesses in order to quell the amount of churches in this country, would you throw me under the bus, too? (That's a trick question, I'll admit, because Obama supports that, too.) No, I won't say you're like those crazy idiots in the audio clip, but I do see Obama supporters as people who will sacrifice many things just to make a buck. It disturbs me, it scares me, and it saddens me... So yes, I do feel so lowly of all Obama supporters. I'm sorry, I really am. I didn't feel this way for people who supported Al Gore or John Kerry, because they weren't so radical, but for Obama? Yeah... I feel this way about his supporters. I'm not trying to coerce anyone into voting for McCain, but there are lots of other parties. I cannot, in good conscience, ignore what people are doing by supporting Obama. I just can't... I may not bring it up, but it's there.

In closing, I've been waiting for someone to ask if anyone is 100% happy with a candidate, heehee! I can safely say that, yes, I am 100% happy with a candidate. Just one, though, and they happen to be squished in with someone who's not quite to great on his own, but together, they make an awesome part and alone, the one candidate I would walk through a wall of fire to support. You wanna know their name?! SARAH PALIN!
