So I've been told to take a career test to see what I want to do for a living. I never really saw the use, since I already know what I wanted to do, but I just had to pick between them all. But I thought, eh, what the heck, I'll try it, since Dad found some freebie one online. I was actually rather surprised at how accurate it was, though, as I thought, it really didn't tell me anything I didn't already know.
But for the sake of boredom and lack of content on this blog, I've decided to post the report I got! Think of it as sort of an ultimate personality test... that's actually useful.

Your highest score was on Science, which means that you enjoy working with abstract ideas, scientific equipment, and mathematical logic and reasoning to solve practical or abstract problems. You also scored highly on Writing, indicating that you enjoy creative or technical writing. You are also likely to be interested in a broad range subjects, so finding occupations that allow you to exercise these interests would lead to higher work satisfaction for you. Your high score on the Clerical scale means that you enjoy office work of a systematic nature, involving attending to details and routine duties. Clerical work often includes filing, record-keeping, word processing, operating office machines, and other office tasks.
Your lowest score was on Personal Service. You wouldn’t be satisfied in careers where the majority of your time was spent interacting with others and providing the public with services involving personal contact. You also showed low interest in Outdoors, so you’re likely to be unfulfilled in careers where the majority of your time was spent working outdoors, especially in agriculture with animals and/or plants. A low score on this scale also means that you probably don’t enjoy the challenge of potentially dangerous situations. Finally, your low score on Health Service means that you wouldn’t enjoy work that involves helping to prevent, diagnose or cure diseases through laboratory work, or by attending to the health needs of individuals directly.
My occupational interests. The core of the report, they say. (Except there's a bunch more fine-tuning results.) As you can see, it noticed I hate working directly with people, but I love Science and Writing and Clerical, which kind of surprised me. (Clerical work is like... stereotypical office work. Word processing, speadsheets, etc. Which it deduced I would like since I'm a very methodical and systematic person and I don't like change.) I got a high score in Art, which is true. I like Art, but I don't think it'd be my first pick for a living, although I ultimately wouldn't mind. It threw out a high score for Cooking, too, which was... er... unexpected. Never thought about Cooking, but it would be neat. (And hey, if Greg Dean from Reallifecomics.com can do it, then SO CAN I, dangit!)

Assertive prefers working situations in which it is appropriate to assert authority over others, and to direct and monitor their work. Persuasive enjoys work which involves influencing, advising, counseling, guiding, motivating, or directing the activities of others. Systematic prefers jobs that involve routine but challenging assignments in which order and persistent, steady effort are required. Likes job security to be established, and dislikes frequent changes in schedule and situations requiring quick decisions.
Here's where that systematic result came from... the Work Styles. Scarily accurate, but, again, something I already knew. While I can adapt to abrupt changes, it really irritates me when people do that, and it's best not done! I like being the boss, too, because then I know things are getting done properly, bwahaha.

Investigative (Thinkers) - Your Score: High
Investigative types enjoy the challenge of problem solving in mathematics, technology, and sciences, and the abstract and practical ideas related to these areas. Applied science, such as engineering, technology or computer science may also be of interest to them. They can be technically creative.
Artistic (Creators) - Your Score: High
Artistic types are often thought of as original and creative by others. Such people enjoy expressing themselves in artistic ways such as acting, dancing, creating music or visual art, or by expressing their ideas either through discussion or debate.
Conventional (Organizers) - Your Score: High
Conventional types enjoy supervising others in jobs where rules and tasks are well defined. They show careful attention to detail, are organized, follow instructions well and prefer jobs where their daily duties are regular and fixed.
Realistic (Doers) - Your Score: Med
Realistic types like physical activity, working with their hands, and are mechanically-inclined. They enjoy working outdoors and do not mind physical risks on the job.
Attentive (Servers) - Your Score: Med
Attentive types enjoy helping others, serving others' personal needs and looking after the comfort and well-being of others. They are happy in jobs requiring sociability, politeness, patience and a happy disposition.
Enterprising (Persuaders) - Your Score: Low
Enterprising types are people-oriented. They like to talk to, influence and persuade others. They are confident, adventurous, assertive and show leadership.
Social (Helpers) - Your Score: Low
Social types are interested in helping to keep others emotionally or physically healthy, or in teaching others. They enjoy giving advice and working directly with people, either in groups or individually.
So yeah. This is where they figure I'd fit in a workplace, but, of course, I already knew this! I just need to decide between Writing, Science, or maybe even both. Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics all interest me, but it would be awesome to write things for a living, too. News articles, books, anything that people would like to read. But NO directly interacting with people! However, I would also enjoy being a Customer Support Representative for a game company or online game like Blizzard on World of Warcraft. It's just something I enjoy doing. You get to indirectly interact with all sorts of weirdos and you get to tell people about all the morons you talk to! It's really sweeeeet.
So... Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Creative Writing, English... ugh. So many choices.
