Hmm...

Okay...

Why do people read this?

I know my friends read this, and I understand why.
(Because, you know... they're my friends.)

I don't understand why people I haven't been friends with for a very long time, or never at all, still regularly come here to read what I say. It's also interesting that they don't leave comments except to say "yer wrong, lolol". The disagreeing part isn't what's questioned here... the thing that I'm asking is why do you even come here when you're not a friend, and you've never agreed with me in your life? Do you just have absolutely nothing better to do? :P

I want to see comments on this...
...you folks know who you are.

Rawr... *yawn*

So it seems the "representative elections" on the DRCSite forums have once again degenerated into chaos and flames. Some people are surprised... but not me!... and not a few friends of mine who will go unnamed unless they want to speak up for themselves.

I'm not the only one who's noticed that the community is more of a "me!" thing than an "us!" thing. If something doesn't appeal to "me!" or makes "me!" mad, then it's evil and needs to be taken care of in a fashion that most suits "me!".

I think Cyan put too much faith in it's fanbase this time. Asking the current fanbase to do something like this is very counter-productive. They're far too immature and take things far too seriously to be trusted with something like this. It was supposed to be a fun little thing to do to help increase communication between Cyan and fans.

...and it's turned into a stupid presidential race.

I really shouldn't read Mystblogs.

Daylight Savings? More like Daylight Break-Even...

Monday, April 3rd, 2006

It's official. Indiana is doing Daylight Savings now. Why? I don't think anyone knows for sure. The politician's assure us it'll be for the best. I don't think anyone's seen benefits, yet. The whole thing is some stupid mindgame to make you think you have an extra hour of daylight. Let's do the math and see how much extra light you get during Daylight Savings, shall we?

Without Daylight Savings, let's say sunrise is 6am and sunset is 6pm.
That's 12 hours. Make a note of that. It's very important.

With Daylight Savings, let's say sunrise is 7am and sunset is 7pm.
That's 12 hours. Make a note of that. It's very-... er, wait. 12 hours again? Hmm.

So people say it's so you can still leave things scheduled at 6pm and have an extra hour of light. That's all very well and good... but what about things that start at 6am? They're now plunged into the blackest of night with a whole hour until sunrise.

See, you don't get an extra hour. You cut some light from the morning and paste it at night. When, in reality, the sun still comes up at the very same instant it always has. They say good ol' Benjamin Franklin proposed Daylight Savings in an attempt to save on candle use. But, erm... instead of using candlelight at night before you sleep, you'd now use the same candlelight in the morning when you wake up. I'm not sure if the Franklin associating is accurate, but oh well.

Daylight Savings is stupid.
It gives no extra light... screws with everyone's mind.

We had an uneventful 3 hour drive aaall the way down... got there at about, oh... 7.

We watched LOST. 3 episodes to catch up.
We were :o the entire time, of course.

I don't remember if we started that night, or the next morning... but we had, erm... access... to the new TV series "Surface". At first it was like, "Surface, eh? Okay!"... Then it was like, "Eh, Surface... it's okay." Then it was "ZOMG SURFACE! NEED MORE!!!" We went through the entire season in about 24 hours. Nonstop. Not even to eat. (Well, we ate during the show.) Seeing as how everyone's taken me up on watching Lost since I've been saying how good it is (LOLOL!!! *ahem*) I don't think it'd do any good to tell you how good Surface is. :P

But FINE. Surface is good. It's like... a little bit of all sorts of good movies. Reminds me of X Files and Close Encounters with the Third Kind... and I've read how other people would say "reminds me of such-n-such" and I'd go "yep!!" but I can't remember. Maybe I'll look it up again later. It starts off kinda cheesy, with off-beat acting and so-so special effects, but it quickly sets into a weird, twisting, sci-fi story that's reeeeeeally cool.
Then we finished that... and moped around a bit about wanting more Lost and Surface... so then we went to Blockbuster and spent... oh... at least an hour browsing the shelves. We left with Doom (our traditional horror film) and a movie called 12 Monkeys, which was really weird, yet very interesting at the same time.

Doom was better than I thought. Your typical blow-'em-away action-horror videogame movie, but I think the general consensus was that we were expecting a nasty movie, and it came off better than we anticipated... so! Good movie.

Then, on Sunday, we watched 12 Monkeys... then finished Kill Bill Vol 2, and then watched Harry Potter, because it's a fun film. We also poked around with playing Halo 2 (of course), testing Oblivion, and just... doing stuff.

Didn't get online much. When it wasn't storming, nobody was on. There was a tornado siren going during Harry Potter, too. So THAT'S why I didn't play WoW, Ed.
