For crying out loud... some woman shoots herself in the stomach in a successful attempt to get rid of her baby that was due that day. The article is full of what they can't use to convict her, before it ends with "I understand that people feel moral outrage over this and there is likely to be some criminal punishment. But perhaps she’s been punished enough."
The justice system is so screwed up.
Need more proof?
A 13-year old girl took a steak knife to school and got charged with "possession of a concealed weapon". Apparently they found it because some kids went and told a teacher that the girl said she had a gun in her bookbag... and so, they're suggesting to expel the girl.
Ultimate cases of "underkill" and "overkill".
Remember fingernail clippers on airplanes? Snip. Snip. Banned.
Some popularity-challenged nerd named Hijoli Cribi! decided to add a bunch of nonexistant junk to the "Myst franchise" pages of Wikipedia. Basically, he added a game called "Myst: Adventures in the Dungeon" as a game that Cyan had created especially for Mac, but cancelled it... or something. I don't really remember, since some folks at MystCommunity have already cleaned it up. (Hooray!)
You can check out that guy's name and see what he's done, if ya' want. I put up deletion requests for two of the main pages, to put out awareness to all them Wikipedians, and I think MC will take care of the little things.
You know... this is something that actually woke me out of my sleep and made me actually post on MC. Someone defacing Myst is enough to get my blood boiling and I'll actually shove differences aside to help get the job done. Woo.
EDIT: Seems that troll has decided to attempt to edit the deletion pages and change all our votes to "keep", hahahaha... So yeah. Nice try? I think?... Mmm, nah. This fellow is a dense as trolls come.
The Playstation 3's delay is official.
(Gee, I couldn't see that coming... could you?) [/sarcasm]
George Lucas, the guy who brought us that amazing low-budget film Star Wars Episode I, says that high-budget films are out, and low-budget films are in. Wonderful... so we're going to get a ton of movies that are like Episode I, huh? To me, George Lucas is like the Steve Jobs of Windows fans, and the Bill Gates of Apple fans, heheh. A bit crazy and overrated, if you ask me.
Mac OS X Security Competition Ends in 30 Minutes... granted the guy had allowed them access to SSH, one of them gained root privilages in 30 minutes! In hacking and piracy *ahem* that amount of time is incredibly small. Slashdot is split about 50/50 that is was a joke (as in, they gave the hackers too much information) and that it's a real problem. Even with local access, you shouldn't be able to get Root.
I'm not poking at OS X, saying "you're stupidly insecure!!!", but I am going to show people that OS X isn't as immaculate as they all personally tell me. Sure, it's secure out of the box, but everything's so automatic when you turn them on... one of my rules is this: Never trust auto-configurations. They're like WYSIWYG webpage editors. Something's bound to be screwed up enough underneath the surface that there'll be problems down the line.
In case you're wondering... yes. I've had experience configuring Mac OS X services. More notably, Apache and Samba. Haven't tried SSH, yet. The configuration files were so split and chopped and hard to find that it took me hours to make Apache NOT show directory structures by default. In my person opinion, that's not good at all. Granted now that I know where everything is, I can change it faster next time... but that's not the point.
LET THE COMMENT FLAMES BEGIN!
Oh, but before you do, read this: Apple Mac OS X Doomed? Another guy who sees things close to how I do. On another note, the same guy wrote this: Firefox Community: Sickly Out of Control Heh, he pretty much just tears up the development/fan community of Firefox. You know what? I like this guy... Not afraid to speak out.
The Oscars are over! Let's see who won what:
King Kong got Achievement in Visual Effects, Achievement in Sound Mixing, and Achievement in Sound Mixing. Not bad, really. Though I expected Narnia to get Visual Effects, and King Kong to get Makeup. Ah, well...
Chronicles of Narnia: Lion, Witch, Wardrobe got Achievement in Makeup, as I said. Not too impressive, but I expected them to do poorly, anyway (who ever heard of a completely wholesome movie actually getting the awards it deserves?)... but at least a blatantly Christian film at least got something! Haha.
Wallace & Gromit in the Curse of the Giant Wererabbit got Best Animated Feature Film of the Year! Awesome! That movie rocks. (Even with intelligent canids aside.)
...and Brokeback Mountain didn't sweep like everyone expected it to! Another awesome thing. Maybe there isn't as much bribery and corruption in the "Academy" as we thought.
Crash got Best Picture... I expected Munich to get it. Not sure what Crash is about, either. There really weren't many nice cool movies for me this year. Hopefully this year will be more... fun! What with Pirates of the Carribean 2 coming out, bwahaha.
