Announcement

Please bear with me, this is not intended to be written in a harsh or condemning manner.

This journal is mine and my own. I will say whatever I wish on it. Some things you won't like, some things you'll very much enjoy, other things you'll not care about in the least bit. But whatever I write about, it's what I think and feel, and if you don't like it, there really should be no need to make a gigantic post about how intolerant, selfish and close-minded I am.

What would be tolerable, appropriate, and essentially the right thing to do is to simply state that you disagree and then proceed to list the reasons you believe I'm wrong. Not that I'll ever agree with you, and I sure as heck know that you'll probably never agree with me, but it's the right way to go about these matters. But please don't directly attack me. I have my own very strong opinions that are very different from the opinions of the majority of the planet and I realize that you do, as well. But turning the entire rebuttal into a direct attack on my character? That's just not at all very kind.

I may be close-minded and intolerant of other views. Yes, I am. But, everyone needs a line. Things beyond said line are intolerable. I've just happened to draw my line far more strictly than the rest of the world. The rest of the world also seems to slowly move that line, allowing more and more things to be tolerable. I don't believe in adjusting morals. I try to get them straight out of the Bible... and, last time I checked, it doesn't change, either. You know, perhaps I'm not slowly getting less and less tolerant... the rest of the world is slowly getting more and more immoral by my standards.

My overall point is this, I guess: Everyone tolerates different things different amounts, that much is obvious. Everyone, everywhere, will always believe they're right until somehow convicted and start believing in new standards. I've noticed that a lot of people in the Myst community are also intolerant. They can't tolerate people who are intolerant of what they believe. Of course, I'm sure the rest of the planet is this way, too. Just look at all the religious skirmishes that are happening all over as I write this. But when you essentially start calling the other party all sorts of names, and pretty much just flat out attack THEM and their character instead of just simply stating why you think they're wrong... that really, really, really hurts whoever you're talking about... and you guys really, really, really hurt me when you do that. It was beyond words to explain to The World how I felt.

Everyone thinks they're right and everyone else is wrong. That's why we're not all under a single-planet government living in perfect and total harmony. I don't think it'll ever happen, either. But we can at least try to be careful about how we address things to other people.

That said, this is my blog. I'll write what I think about whatever comes to my mind that I want to tell about. If I were to respond to what someone thinks, I would give my opinions in a totally different way. But to start my own conversation, I will write my bare opinions on this blog... and remember that I have very strict tolerance, that much I'm sure is obvious by now.

I feel I must inform you that I was about to pack up and close my blog again, because I was extremely upset at what has been written in Chucker's blog. But I must thank The World for helping to keep my head through it all. He didn't know I was going to write this, though, because, up until he left, I was set on never showing up in this community ever again.

Thanks for reading.

The Stray 450

Sunday, February 12th, 2006

As reported on the Slashdot article Christian Churches Celebrate Darwin's Birthday, 450 "Christian" churches are actually celebrating the birthday of good ol' Charlie Darwin, the father of the THEORY and RELIGION of Evolution, stating that "Darwin's theory of biological evolution is compatible with faith and that Christians have no need to choose between religion and science".

Uhm... what? What people would say this and call themselves Christians? I continued to read the article and discovered a list, true or not, of churches reported to be celebrating:

"A variety of denominational and non-denominational churches, including Methodist, Lutheran, Episcopalian, Presbyterian, Unitarian, Congregationalist, United Church of Christ, Baptist and a host of community churches, are participating in the event, which grew out of Zimmerman's The Clergy Letter Project, another effort to dispel the perception among many Christians that faith and evolution are mutually exclusive."

It doesn't at all surprise me that the Episcopal, Presbyterian, Unitarian, and Congragationalist churches are doing it. They have a warped perspective on the Bible already. But the inclusion of the United Church of Christ and the Baptist church kind of took me by surprise. They have a central office that approves what these churches do. There's a good chance the entire denomination has been compromised.

There's a word we Christians use when something like this happens. We not-Catholic Christians don't use it often, but when the appropriate time arises, we'll use it. Dictionary.com seems to label it as a Catholic-specific term. Whether that is true or not, I've heard very devout Protestant Christians use it at times.

That word is HERETIC. Suggesting that God used Evolution to aid in the creation of the universe is heresy. It clearly conflicts with the 7 24-hour day Creation timeline as layed out in the first chapters of Genesis. This goes way beyond simple misinterpretation, people.

Quote of the day.

Jedi Academy... after a longer period of time than the last time I Skyped regularly. Reminded me of WHY I HATE PLAYING AGAINST THE WORLD!!! But it was overall reeeally fun. Missed playing it more than I thought, I think. I stopped playing for a variety of reasons... But I'm gonna try to just forget them. (Or ignore them.)

I take games with score too personally. I'm fine if I'm last, noooo problem. But then SOMEONE goes and makes it personal by gloating or saying I'm stupid and CAN'T win. Then it's time to bust out the big guns and get seriously serious... a do or die situation... and if I'm not first, then I failed, and I can't stand failure.

But anyway!! I had fun... even if TW was being cocky. You hear that, TW?! YOU WERE BEING COCKY!
