Bye-bye Adsense.

(haha, look, ed! A period... yey!)

Well, I removed the Google Ads, and all that extra silly experimental stuff. I think I made a grand total of 17 cents with it... and now that I'm playing with random taglines, I decided to just completely remove it so I don't get yelled at for page/ad refreshes, fwee. I'm starting to not think Google is as awesome as everyone makes them out to be. I tend to agree with the folks who say that supporting Chinese censorship goes directly against their "Do no evil." agenda. (That coming from me, yeah...) They are, after all, an American-based company. Is there some odd politics that come into play when you're an internet company? They don't HAVE to comply to Chinese-specific laws, do they? It's all rather weird... and considering how strong they've become, and how many things they influence, I'm starting to not think they're as hot as they once were. (Sure, their products rock... and I use them... but still.)

...and I'm still sick. Fever's gone, but throat still hurts and I've begun to cough my head off whenever I take a breath. Coughdrops only help as long as the drop is still in your mouth. As soon as it's dissolved, you're right back at coughing again.

...and I was right!! More often than not, the animated stars I put on the Ed-blog announcement don't even animate in Firefox, teehee. The one thing Internet Explorer does properly is play GIFs. Ever try to watch a ytmnd.com thingie in Firefox? Oh maaaan... Same goes for watching Homestarrunner videos, and other interactive Flash files. There's some odd lag that goes on that IE lacks. You'd think that if IE can do it, then Firefox could, heh.

...and I can't wait for Oblivion!!! Argh. I'm re(re-re-re-re-re)installing Neverwinter Nights again. I always uninstall it to make space for some quick project I'm doing at the time. Maybe I can get an RPG fix for another month until it comes out. World of Warcraft hasn't really been interesting the past few weeks... I'm giving it a break before I try playing it again. For all ya' folks who want me to play (all one of you), don't worry! I'm like this... just gimme some time away from it.

Formal Apology

Alright, this is a long time coming...

I know this blog has become a place where comments that don't support what I posted about are indefinately held in a moderative queue... and I've known it for quite some time, I just didn't want to admit it. (You can thank TW and recent events for jarring me out of my stubborn...ishness.) It was a sort of weird compromise I had where I didn't actually delete the posts, but I didn't actually approve the posts, so it wasn't quite censorship in my little world.

I've forgotten the reason that I even started moderating comments. I won't mention the name of the person, lest I inadvertantly bring them back from the dead (or where ever trolls go when they're not trolling)... Some of you can probably remember, but for those of you who can't, I had some trouble with comment floods of incredible proportions. To stop such a thing from happening again, I enacted comment moderation. Not only did it stop trolls, but it also completely negated the need for spam filters (and I've not received a spambot comment in close to two years).

For whatever the reasons, I'd like to apologize for banning your legitimate comments, and I will try not to ever let it happen again. Over the course of WordPress updates, I've noticed they added an option where once a user has been approved once, all other comments they leave will automatically be approved. I think this is what I'll be doing now. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I'm going to give it a shot. So sort of like halfway moderated... so I can still keep tabs on trolls.

ZOMG

I was debating on whether to write this post like an advertisement for the newest awesome thing on the market that you couldn't ever live without, or to write it like I was being blackmailed into it... but after much (or not really) careful deliberation, I've decided to just tell you...

EDRICK HAS A BLOG NOW! :D :D:D:DVISIT IT HERE!

*throws a bunch of confetti (and enough animated GIFs to crash Firefox) around*
